Now you must have the core understanding of network types so let’s discuss some other terms with respect to the specific region: Intranet, Extranet and internet.
Intranet: This type of a network is usually inside a small area in other words local to a company; all the company users can access and utilize all the network resources without going outside. It is limited in scope and includes LANs, private WANs, MANs and SANs.
Extranet: we can define extranet as an enhanced form of the intranet, a more advanced in scope where known external users can access internal resources from any remote location. Now the security of the communication of the internal resources and external users is carried out by a firewall and VPN.
internet: In the internet unknown users from remote locations can access internal resources from your network. For example your organization has created a website to sell his products, now you allow any external user to access your website. Internet and internet are a bit different terms; the lowercase internet is a network in which users can access the resources which are shared while Internet is a main public network that is used by most of the companies to access the external resources. You can use a firewall to restrict your internal resources being accessed by the external users.
