FAQ's >> Does every software project need testers? |
Although all the
projects can benefit from the testing process, but some
projects may not require assignment of dedicated test
staff to work properly.
Now the question arises as to which projects do not
require independent test staff. The answer is dependent
on the size, context and concept of the project, along
with the risks posed to the project, the software
development paradigm used to develop the project, skill
and experience level of the developers as well as
certain other aspects.
Sometimes, an IT firm may be very small or relatively new to step into
the testing for systems even if there is a requirement
to test the project. In such kind of situations, the
testing staff is either specially hired, or the testing
process is outsourced to another company or adjust the
project management and development approach. It is a
common practice to ignore testing by some managers which
involve them to ask the programmers to perform post
developmental functional testing of the system.
Sometimes, for large projects or projects with highly
complex requirements, a testing staff is very important.
Any business requires some one to evaluate its proper
functioning, and this evaluation results in the
organization being more successful in large, complex, or
difficult tasks. Now, this allows for deeper & stronger
skills as well as the involvement of more than one
varying perspectives. The Technical people who can be
very effective in identifying tasks from both of those
perspectives are rare which is why, sooner or later,
organizations bring in test specialists.
