A good testing, QA, or QA/Test(combined) manager should possess the following qualities:
• Be aware of the stages in software development process
• Be able to keep the tempo of the team at its top and promote a positive instead of negative atmosphere in the team
• Be a candidate of promoting teamwork to enhance productivity
• Be active in promoting coordination between software engineers, test engineers as well as QA engineers
• Possess the skills required to inculcate improvements in the existing QA processes
• Should be able to hold against pressures and say ‘no’ to the fellow managers in cases where quality is being compromised
• Should have the ability to judge people in order to hire skilled and appropriate personnel
• Should be able to coordinate with people, both of technical and non technical nature
• Be able to lead the meetings and adhering to their purpose
