The software life cycle is initiated when a concept of the application is developed in mind, and ends when it is not in use any more. It includes stages like initial concept development, gathering requirements and analyzing them, preparing a functional design, creating an internal design, planning the documentation, planning testing, coding, document preparation, integration of the different modules, testing, maintenance of the system, handling regular updates to the system, retesting the application, handing over to the customer etc.
