| FAQs >> What is software
'quality'? |
Software quality refers to the software package being bug
free, delivered on time, meeting customer requirements, and
being maintainable over time. Anyways, quality is a
subjective term and can mean different in different
situations, for some customers, high speed of loading a
website can be an indication of good quality, while for
others good text on the website can be an indication of good
quality. So the argument whether or not a software is a good
quality package, depends on who the customer is, and what
were his/her requirements and priorities.
A bird’s eye view of the customers of a software package may
include end users, customer end testers, customer contract
officers, customer management etc. From the development
firm, the software users may be their management,
accountants, testers, future software engineers, software
maintenance personnel. Every customer type has different
requirements and different perceptions of quality in their
minds e.g. accounting department defines quality in terms of
the profits a firm is gaining every year, while the end user
may define the quality as being user friendly and bug free.
